OVERHEARD in the men’s, this conversation between two eight- or nine-year olds, as they wetted the dirt on their face at the washbasin:
“Did you see Tim today?”
“Yes.”
“Did you see his girlfriend?”
“That was his girlfriend?”
“Yeah, the new one!”
“But… she is old! She must be at least 11!”
Tim, old man, what were you thinking?
